jonathan anderson has been recording for 10 years dating back to many hours spent as a youth with only a borrowed four-track and an imagination. music began for jonathan as a young child in piano lessons, and on through school choirs, high school jazz band and his first official band, paisley suitcase, with whom he spent 5 years and had his first forays into recording. the band recorded in a number of different studios and did a lot of the recording live to save money. this was to lay the ground work for buena vista's philosophy of capturing the magic of a truly inspired performance as opposed to today's popular cut-and-paste mentality.
since those early days with paisley, jonathan has recorded a solo album, 3 full length albums and an EP with his band jonathan inc. as well as a growing number of other albums for other artists (see clients page).

aside from his own music he has contributed his notable multi-instrumentalist abilities to recordings by Radiogram, Great Aunt Ida, Kevin House, John Bottomley, Lily Frost, Jack Harlan, Swank O'hara, Tiefisher, Dawntreader and numerous other solo artists and bands. he has been invited to sit in on performances by the microphones/mount eerie, international fall, joel r.l. phelps and the secret three, and kevin kane (ex grapes of wrath) among numerous others. having had a significant amount of experience, jonathan is diverse as an accompaniest and producer and where is it wanted, he is also adept at arranging.

what kind of music do i like? buena vista audio (like basement winter before it) is open to all styles of music - with the exception of metal (in most all of it's varied forms) - although we have a soft spot in our hearts for indie rock and good singer-songwriter pop music.

a few favorite albums: richard buckner/SINCE, talk talk/SPIRIT OF EDEN, built to spill/PERFECT FROM NOW ON, gillian welch/TIME(THE REVELATOR), IDAHO/alas/hearts of palm/levitate, RED HOUSE PAINTERS/ocean beach, SPARKLEHORSE/it's a wonderful life, KINGS OF CONVENIENCE/quiet is the new loud, NEIL FINN/try whistling this, LOW/secret name ..
