buena vista audio is a friendly home studio nestled quietly in a back lane in the suburb of langley bc, approximately 50 minutes from downtown vancouver. owned an operated by local producer and multi-instrumentalist jonathan anderson (jonathan inc./radiogram), this facility was built in the summer of 2003 as a replacement for our previous space, basement winter which we were quickly outgrowing. there are a lot of ways to make a record and we are into trying new things and going down different roads in order to capture the right sound for your music. the past year has seen jonathan working in lots of different studios and collaborating with new people more and more. in february he spent a few weeks at black box recorders in france working with david odlum (the frames,gemma hayes) on a new cd by paula toledo. jonathan has worked on numerous recording projects in many different studios, ranging from solo artists like Jack Harlan (Nettwerk), popular vancouver band Stabilo Boss (EMI), to children's choirs, string quartets and indie rock bands. our studio is equipped with numerous instruments and recording tools for your enjoyment and is able to offer high quality recordings and services at a fraction of the cost of many professional studios. at buena vista we are advocates of building music out of "real-time" recording and we value inspired performances over sterile perfection - working without the desire to compensate digitally later or "fix it in the mix" allows for greater emphasis on capturing a truly magical performance. that is what great albums are all about. our greatest strength is our ears and our intuition and we like to think of what we do as ambitious mid-fi recording (although the gear is constantly being upgraded - taking things up a notch). ---> buena vista audio is an extension of anewstudy.com, a media/design co. committed to high quality creative work. as such we are able to offer you graphic design and photography for your cd artwork, web design and promotional materials. we also work in conjunction with a few different mastering labs and cd manufacturers through whom we can offer competitive rates.
